Trustees
The trustees are responsible for the policies and strategies of Action Medical Research and give their medical, financial and business skills and expertise on a voluntary basis. The council of trustees meets four times a year and is supported by a number of advisory committees.

Richard Price
Mr Price joined the council in 2005 and was elected Chairman in August 2008. He is co-founder and retired chairman of professional education company BPP. He is currently chairman of awarding body company, EDI, and British Association for Performing Arts Medicine (BAPAM). He is a council member of the Royal College of Music.

Professor Andrew J T George, MA, PhD, FRCPath, FRSA
Professor George was appointed Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Panel (SAP) in January 2008. He is Professor of Molecular Immunology at Imperial College, London and Director of the Graduate School of Life Sciences and Medicine and the School of Professional Development. Professor George is also Chair of the UK’s National Research Ethics Advisory Panel.
David Gibbs
A retired investment banker, Mr Gibbs is a member of the charity’s Investment and Audit Committee, and has been a member of the council since 2006.
Val Hammond, BA, CIMgt, FRSA
Val Hammond has been a member of the council since 1998. She is Chair of the Roffey Park Institute, author of numerous management books and currently Chair of the charity’s Risk Management Committee.
Karen Jankel, BSc
Daughter of Michael Bond, the author of Paddington Bear, Karen Jankel has been a member of the council since 1992. She is a member of both the Risk Management and the Marketing Committees.
Diana Marsland
Diana Marsland joined the council in 2003. She is a marketing consultant and is a member of the Marketing Committee.
Ann Paul
Ann Paul joined the council in 2005 and is Chair of the Marketing Committee. She is a fundraising consultant.
Val Remington-Hobbs
A long standing supporter of Action Medical Research Val Remington-Hobbs joined the council in January 2010. She brings a wealth of experience as a volunteer fundraiser and as County Chair, Suffolk, and Chair of Stowmarket Committee.

A council member since 2006, Sir John Wickerson is solicitor to Action Medical Research and a member of the Investment and Audit Committee.
