From our start point at the Steyning Leisure Centre, West Sussex you will walk a short distance through the High Street and along the banks of the River Arun before starting a gentle climb onto the South Downs Way….all the way up to the Devil’s Dyke Golf Club, where you can meet your support vehicles for your first re-fuelling stop of the night.

Even at dead of night there is normally some light from the clear sky and the summer moon as the energetic
trail-walkers continue from here over to Ditchling Beacon and then to the Newmarket Inn near Lewes, where at nearly half way, weary walkers can enjoy bacon butties and a change of clothes as sunrise appears.

PhotoPLOD stewards on the routeAfter a hearty meal, walkers continue through four more checkpoints at Rodmell, Firle Beacon, Alfriston and  Exceat, where the gruelling yet beautiful final leg – the Seven Sisters cliff walk – begins…

You will now face your last and, some say, toughest section, as you towards the awesome Seven Sisters Cliff Walk with plenty of sea air and short steep climbs and descents! towards the final home stretch for a glass of champagne and the welcoming finish line at Birling Gap
