There are six members for each team; five walking members and one support Crew Driver.
Your Support Crew Driver is an essential member of the team. They will greet you at each checkpoint with refreshments, change of clothing and assist with running repairs. Your driver needs to be in a reliable vehicle with fully charged mobile communications.
No, it is essential that you have a support crew to help the team along the route.
This will vary depending on the terrain difficulty between checkpoints. The maximum distance between checkpoints will be approximately 6 miles
We will endeavour to support you to the finish line, and will be monitoring your pace at each checkpoint. If it becomes apparent that your team is unlikely to make the finish line by the latest designated time, you will be advised to stop walking and transported to the finish area.
The event starts at midnight and should take between 10 and 15 hours to complete, it all depends on your fitness level.
There is no minimum or maximum age, all we ask is that all walkers are sufficiently fit and healthy for the task
Before the event begins:
Notify staff at registration. If you have less than six members, your team will forfeit points.
During the event:
If the team member decides to stop at a checkpoint, they can finish and stay with the support crew. If along the route, the walker cannot go any further you must communicate with your support crew to come and collect them. If this is problematic, contact the event organisers.
This is very unlikely but can happen, we advise you to keep in contact with your support crew throughout the event. The Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue Team will be on site.
You should have basic first aid with you to deal with any minor slips, trips, and cuts, inform your support crew of the situation. The support crew can then advise the event organisers and arrange rescue. The Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue Team will be on site
At the checkpoints and your support crew can give and receive messages if your team is split. Communication on route will be via mobile telephone. Marshals at each checkpoint will also be in communication with each other and will have updates on the status of walkers and teams.
