Your contribution will help support cutting-edge research into a range of conditions including pregnancy complications such as premature birth which is the biggest single killer of babies under a year old in the UK.
Making a gift in your Will can help us fund pioneering medical research for years to come. Your kindness today could help transform the future lives of babies and children.
Making the decision to leave a gift in your Will could be one of the most important decisions of your life as it could help fund our next medical breakthrough. We’ve already helped to develop the UK polio vaccine, ultrasound scanning in pregnancy and established the link between folic acid and the prevention of spina bifida. Just think what your gift could help us do next.
If you have already made a Will it is easy to add a codicil (a document that adds to or alters a Will) leaving a gift to Action Medical Research. Your solicitor can draw this up for you. It is signed in the same manner as a Will, and placed with your Will.
Now I'm 80, my children have grown up and, like so many, I have a valuable property and live a comfortable life.
I believe it's people like us who should make wills that benefit Action Medical Research. This way, their valuable contribution to the future of so many people is guaranteed.
Mr D Mahy, who has pledged a gift to Action Medical Research.

Remember someone special
Touching Lives Tribute Funds and In Memoriam funds are a special way of celebrating the life of someone special.
Tribute Funds
Gifts made in memory are incredibly special to everyone concerned. For this reason we have set up our Touching Lives Tribute Funds, which offer you a more meaningful way to remember a loved one and support medical research to help save lives or change the lives of people struggling with debilitating medical conditions.
Tribute Funds can also be set up by those who have experienced a life-threatening illness and are celebrating their survival or they can be used to fundraise in someone’s name.
Our first Touching Lives Tribute Fund was set up by Anne and John Netherway in memory of their daughter, Lucy.
Our beautiful and brave baby girl Lucy gave us so much joy, love and happiness in her short life. She loved to play, and her smiles and giggles would light up a room. When Lucy was taken ill, all of our lives changed forever. We knew the road ahead would be difficult and uncertain, but we lived in hope.
Sadly, Lucy died after four months of illness, but we wanted to do something that was positive and reflected the love we all felt for her.
As a family we feel that a Tribute Fund is a lovely way to remember her, and help to fund research into atypical HUS and other illnesses.
On Lucy's birthday, our family make donations to the fund. We feel that the Tribute Fund means her memory will continue to light up the lives of many people in the future, just as her smile will always live on in our hearts.
Anne and John Netherway
We’ll manage your Fund for you and provide you with regular updates on how your Fund is growing along with ideas to help you raise money and inspire friends and family to do the same.
For further details please contact Jane Tarrant, our Tribute Funds Manager, on 01403 327414 or e-mail jtarrant@action.org.uk
In Memoriam
Another way of celebrating the life of a loved one is by donating in their memory. Simply ask friends and family to make donations to the charity in the name of your loved one. Some families ask that donations are made instead of sending flowers, for instance.

Trusts and foundations
For almost 60 years Action Medical Research has supported vital medical research - especially in the area of children’s health - which has transformed millions of lives. Can any of us today imagine life without the polio vaccine for example?
Action Medical Research relies entirely on voluntary funding. The loyalty and generosity of Trusts and Foundations is crucial to our work, each making a valuable contribution to the costs of funding our projects.
If you are involved with a Trust or Foundation and feel able to consider supporting Action Medical Research, we would welcome the opportunity to provide more background to our charity, including the range of research covered by the projects we currently support, and our ambitions for continuing the advances in medical knowledge which have already been achieved. Where there is an area of particular interest a grant may be dedicated to a specific research project.
US Foundations
The benefits from our research extend far beyond the United Kingdom and Action Medical Research International (AMRI) was established for the purpose of providing financial and other assistance to Action Medical Research and similar organisations. The Internal Revenue Service has ruled that AMRI qualifies as a charitable organisation as described in Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. AMRI’s EIN is 43-1695616. Donations may also be made through Charities Aid Foundation America (CAF America).
US Taxpayers
US taxpayers who would like to support AMR may prefer to use CAF America for their contributions. Action Medical Research has been determined as eligible to receive grants from CAF America. Please follow this link to make a contribution.
