About Action

At Action Medical Research, we’re on a mission to save and change children’s lives through medical research, developing treatments, vaccinations and cures. A UK-wide charity, we’ve been funding medical breakthroughs for nearly 70 years, helping to beat polio, fight meningitis, prevent stillbirths and develop ultrasound scanning in pregnancy. Our work is now needed more than ever, including in the battle against COVID-19.

The role

The Finance Manager, supported by a Finance Assistant, is responsible for overseeing day-to-day finance functions throughout Action Medical Research in line with current legislation and good practice, as well as supporting senior management in the planning and delivery of the charity’s objectives.

We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate to work with the Director of Finance, IT & Operations to deliver exciting transformational plans for the charity’s financial management function.

You will add value by providing accurate and timely financial analysis and insight into the operational activities of the charity to influence and contribute to decision making and business planning throughout the organisation, whilst ensuring a robust control environment and balance sheet integrity.

You will be a qualified accountant, with excellent financial accounting skills and experience of providing support and collaborating with other teams. You will have sound knowledge and experience of statutory accounts preparation and ideally you will have experience with the charity sector.
