Action asks for artists ahead of fundraiser

Published on

Updated:

For the very first time, Action Medical Research is holding one of its most creative fundraising events in Lincolnshire.

‘Art for Action’ is going to be held in Stamford Town Hall, Stamford on Friday, 24 November and the charity is looking for contributors.

The pieces will be on display and sold for £30 each with the artists’ identity kept a secret until the end.

Community Fundraising Manager for the region Lucy Hynes explains why: “These fundraisers are a great way to show off local talent and so we’re looking for artists, designers, students…absolutely anyone to get involved.

“But we often get a few more ‘familiar’ names who also donate their time and talents. For example, earlier this year we had artwork created by international best-selling crime author Peter James, Charlie Simpson from the band ‘Busted’ along with Paralympian legend Jody Cundy OBE.

“You just don’t know whose work your picture could be displayed next to, or whose work you could end up buying!”

Artists can create their masterpiece in any medium they like (painting, sketch, collage, drawing or photograph) on the A5 card which will be provided. The deadline for submissions is 6 October.

The charity is currently funding research into conditions including asthma, prematurity, epilepsy, meningitis, cerebral palsy, brain cancer and some rare and distressing conditions.
