Charity offers discounted Peterborough 100 places to Kilo To Go riders

Updated:

Action Medical Research is offering riders who’ve lost their places on Kilo To Go’s Flatout in the Fens the chance to join its Peterborough 100 for just £10.

If you missed out on your place on KTG’s Flatout in the Fens on 3 July, you could still enjoy a route which takes in the stunning scenery of the Cambridgeshire countryside – and support a charity which is saving and changing children’s lives.

Just send evidence of your Kilo To Go registration to events@action.org.uk and Action Medical Research will give you a voucher code for £10 entry to the Peterborough 100.

The ride, on Sunday, 26 June 2016, offers three options: a Cool 46-mile route that is ideal if you’re new to cycling or haven’t had time to train; a Classic 64-mile route, the perfect introduction to distance riding; or the more challenging Champion option, which covers 101 miles over five counties - ideal for experienced sportive riders. The route, which starts at the Marriott Hotel in Peterborough, covers Cambridgeshire and the surrounding counties where the quiet lanes serve up a mixture of climbs and descents with ample opportunity to push it on the flats.

“We're sorry to hear of the unfortunate closure of Kilo To Go and wanted to do what we could to help riders who've missed out on this year's Flatout in the Fens,” says Sam Kantorowich, Action Medical Research's Cycling Operations Manager.

“Our Peterborough 100 ride starts from the same location and also takes in the best of the county's scenery and riders will be joining the fight for little lives: last year almost 5,000 riders helped to raise a total of £288,000 for vital research.”

The Peterborough 100 event is part of the charity’s popular RIDE100 series of one-day bike rides that take place in fantastic cycling locations across the UK. All include chip timing, food and water stations, marshals and mechanics.

For more than 60 years Action Medical Research has helped pioneer treatments and ways to prevent disease that have benefited millions of people in the UK and across the world. Research they’ve funded has helped to beat polio in the UK, develop ultrasound in pregnancy, fight meningitis and prevent stillbirths.

Action Medical Research is currently funding research into meningitis, Down syndrome, epilepsy and premature birth, as well as some rare and distressing conditions that severely affect children.
