The ‘Aberdeen Ladies Lunch’ committee for children’s charity Action Medical Research is getting ready to welcome a familiar face next month!

Actor Brian Capron – who Coronation Street fans will remember as the sinister Richard Hillman – will be this year’s guest speaker.

The annual fundraiser has been running for more than 20 years and committee member Maggie Atchison says she can’t wait: “It’s always a lovely day and our guests are so generous in supporting such an important charity, we can’t wait to see everyone there on the 12th March.

“I’m sure Brian will be very entertaining this year with his stories from his life as an actor.”

Brian Capron’s career spans nearly 50 years, during which time he has appeared in literally hundreds of plays and TV programmes, from the Sweeney, Minder and Bergerac to Grange Hill, Coronation Street, Midsummer Murders and New Tricks.

He is probably best known for his role as Richard Hillman in Coronation Street, a role which helped win him a record breaking five awards at the British Soap Awards: Best Actor, Best Villain, Best Exit, Best Scene and Best Storyline.  He also won the ‘Villain of the Decade’ at the Inside Soap Awards.

This year’s Ladies Lunch is being held at The Marcliffe Hotel and Spa on Thursday 12 March from 11.30am.

As well as an entertaining talk from Brian, guests will be treated to a welcome drink and a delicious two course lunch with wine.

There will also be a raffle with prizes from various local companies including ‘Finnies The Jeweller’, ‘Aberdeen Audi’ and ‘The Aberdeen Clinic’.

Tickets are £40 per person and are available from Maggie via phone (07801 933 102) or e-mail (maggieatchison@mac.com).

Action’s Community Fundraiser for Aberdeen, Suzanne Fleming, says the local committee always work wonders: “We are so lucky to have such passionate supporters here in Aberdeen.

“The committee work tirelessly to support Action Medical Research - regularly attracting hundreds of guests for their lunches - and the funds raised by this annual event make such a difference to our ongoing work.

“I can’t wait to see everyone there on the 12th March!”

The Aberdeen Ladies Lunch is kindly sponsored by A-Line Audio Visual, Dani Rose Photography and Esker Spirits.
