A group of car fanatics from Feltham in South West London are preparing themselves for a cross continental charity challenge!
‘Scumrun’ returns in May 2018 and places are now available for May 2018.
The annual event – which sees cars driven on a mystery five day tour around Europe - is organised to raise funds for children’s charities. Next year Action Medical Research will be the chosen cause.
Sales Controller Dave Taylor, 46, is preparing for his third stint behind the wheel: “There’s a real camaraderie among all the participants; everyone’s willing to help each other, which is really important when you’re driving a car that could potentially break down at any minute!
“You get to see some amazing scenery and of course there’s the feeling you’re doing something worthwhile for charity.”
Teams need to buy and decorate their vehicles especially for the drive. They can spend as much or as little as they want (there are various different classes): the challenge is to make sure the vehicle can actually complete the course!
Dave will be joined by teammates Ken Taylor, 72, Stuart Laurie, 40, Tom Aves, 35 and Lee Walsh, 27. Collectively known as ‘exhaustedpistontyred’, the group aim to raise £3,000 for Action.
The charity’s Head of Relationship Fundraising, Toby Tennant said: “We’re really excited to be working with the organisers and to be a part of Scumrun!
“Places are already beginning to fill up and that has a lot to do with the event’s passionate fan base who return year after year.”
Edward White, Managing Director of the Scumrun event, said: “The enthusiasm and passion of our participants really does seem to grow each year; if you’re a fan of driving and like an adventure, Scumrun’s the perfect team bonding experience!
“Obviously fundraising for charity is a big part of what we do and we’re absolutely delighted to be supporting Action in 2018. With teams already starting to sign themselves up, we’re confident next year’s event will raise lots of money for vital research.”
Fancy the challenge? You can find out more here.
