Go West to host ladies’ lunch in aid of children’s charity

Go West stars Richard Drummie and Peter Cox are set to get hearts aflutter when they host a new ladies’ lunch in Kent in aid of children’s charity Action Medical Research.

The popular duo – who had hits with ‘We Close Our Eyes’ and ‘King of Wishful Thinking’ – will be entertaining fans at the Mercure Maidstone Great Danes Hotel on Friday, 7 October.

Guests will enjoy a drinks reception followed by a two-course meal and a live performance by Go West, as well as an auction packed with incredible items and a star prize draw.

Guitarist Richard has been a long-term supporter of Action Medical Research and has taken part in charity treks to Costa Rica and Venezuela alongside Spandau Ballet singer Tony Hadley, as well as performing at other lunch events.

Paula Ray, Action Medical Research’s Community Fundraising Manager for the region, says: “We’re so thrilled that Go West will be hosting this lunch for the ladies of Kent for the first time – it’s the perfect excuse for a post-summer holiday get-together with the girls and it will be a day to remember.

“Guests will have a fantastic afternoon with the chance to have a dance to some of their favourite songs, but they’ll also be raising money to save and change children’s lives.”

At a similar event last October Tony Hadley helped to raise £14,000 for Action Medical Research by hosting his first ladies’ lunch in Kent.

With the help of its supporters, Action Medical Research has played a significant role in many medical breakthroughs since it began in 1952, from the development of the first UK polio vaccines to the use of ultrasound in pregnancy.

It is currently funding research into protecting more children from meningitis by developing a new MenB vaccine as well as studies into Down syndrome, epilepsy and premature birth, and some rare and distressing conditions that severely affect children.

Tickets for Action Medical Research’s Go West Ladies’ Lunch, supported by Next, are priced at £50 and are available from action.org.uk/go-west-ladies-lunch
