Updated:

Cycling fans will share the road with riders from Cannondale, Movistar, Lampre-Merida and Madison Genesis at a special Garmin ride on Friday, 2 September, in aid of children’s charity Action Medical Research.

Members of the professional cycling teams sponsored by Garmin will be joined by more than 700 cycling enthusiasts as they warm up for the Tour of Britain on a 47-mile route through the New Forest.

The ride, designed by Action Medical Research’s cycling experts, offers one of the most scenic cycling experiences in the country with a stunning blend of forest roads, quaint villages, tree-lined bends and far-reaching views.

Having opened to the public for the first time this year, this prestigious cycling event sold out within days and hopes are high supporters will smash 2015’s fundraising total of £35,000 for the UK children’s charity.

Richard Daish, Senior Marketing Executive at Garmin, said: “Ride Out is Garmin’s annual celebration of cycling, we’re excited to once again partner with Action Medical Research and support such a great charity.

“Ride Out offers our customers the unique opportunity to join Garmin’s product experts on a ride through the New Forest, alongside professional cycling teams that also use Garmin technology. We’re looking forward to holding another successful event.”

“We’re very proud to have created the route for such a prestigious event and it’s fantastic to have Garmin’s support again this year – we are looking forward to a great day in the saddle, raising vital funds to help save and change children’s lives,” adds Sam Kantorowich, Action Medical Research’s Cycling and Events Operations Manager.

The event will start at 8am with a Q&A with pro cycling teams and a raffle in aid of Action Medical Research. Raffle prizes include cutting edge cycling products, with one lucky winner taking home a brand new Madison bike. Riders and pro teams will depart at 11am to commence the picturesque route from New Milton.

Action Medical Research is a leading UK-wide charity working to save and change children’s lives through medical research. We believe that the diseases that devastate the lives of so many of our children can be beaten. We have been funding medical breakthroughs since we began in 1952 like the first polio vaccines in the UK, ultrasound in pregnancy and the rubella vaccine – helping to save thousands of children’s lives and change many more.

Just one breakthrough, however small, can mean the world.
