Action Medical Research is delighted to announce the return of its ‘Suffolk Sunrise’ cycling event in Framlingham on Sunday 20th May!
The UK-wide children’s charity will host the event at Framlingham College with around a thousand cyclists preparing to take on the 40, 64 or 101 mile routes.
With the fabulous Framlingham Castle serving as backdrop at the start (and finish), riders will soon be exploring the country lanes of Suffolk with some spectacular countryside and coastal scenery.
Earlier this year Action announced professional road racing cyclist Alex Dowsett as its new ‘Cycling Ambassador’.
“I’m such a big fan of Action” said Alex, who rides for Team Katusha–Alpecin. “I think it’s is an incredible charity that does so much to help fund vital medical research.
“Cycling has very much been at its heart for so many years now, with a number of fantastic annual events and sportives. I’m just proud to take on this role and help promote the charity in any way I can.”
People can sign up for the Suffolk Sunrise 100 online (https://www.action.org.uk/suffolk-sunrise-100) until 9pm on Wednesday 16 May.
If you miss that deadline there’s still a chance to register on the day for £45.
Action Medical Research is a UK-wide children’s charity which funds desperately needed research to tackle the diseases that devastate the lives of so many of our children. It has been funding medical breakthroughs since it began in 1952 including helping to introduce the first polio vaccines in the UK, developing the use of ultrasound in pregnancy and testing the rubella vaccine.
The charity is currently funding research into conditions including asthma, prematurity, epilepsy, meningitis, cerebral palsy, brain cancer and some rare and distressing conditions.
