More than a thousand cyclists gear up for Castle Ride 100

Action Medical Research is delighted to announce the start of its summer cycling season in Tonbridge on Sunday 13 May.

The UK-wide children’s charity will host the Castle Ride 100 with over a thousand cyclists preparing to take on the 33, 70, 101 or 124 mile routes.

The riders will set off from Tonbridge Castle and enjoy beautiful scenery - as well as some tough climbs - through the challenging North Downs!

Earlier this year Action announced professional road racing cyclist Alex Dowsett as its new ‘Cycling Ambassador’.

“I’m such a big fan of Action” said the Team Katusha–Alpecin member. “I think it’s is an incredible charity that does so much to help fund vital medical research.

“Cycling has very much been at its heart for so many years now, with a number of fantastic annual events and sportives. I’m just proud to take on this role and help promote the charity in any way I can.”

People can sign up for the Castle Ride 100 online until 9pm on Wednesday 9 May.

If you miss that deadline there’s still a chance to register on the day for £45 (£60 for the Epic route).

Action Medical Research is a UK-wide children’s charity which funds desperately needed research to tackle the diseases that devastate the lives of so many of our children. It has been funding medical breakthroughs since it began in 1952 including helping to introduce the first polio vaccines in the UK, developing the use of ultrasound in pregnancy and testing the rubella vaccine.

The charity is currently funding research into conditions including asthma, prematurity, epilepsy, meningitis, cerebral palsy, brain cancer and some rare and distressing conditions.
