Children’s charity Action Medical Research is calling on groups of friends, students, team mates, colleagues and businesses in Wiltshire and Avon to get involved with 'Action Cream Teas' and join the fight for little lives.
Wonderfully scrumptious 'Action Cream Teas' will be delivered directly to doors by volunteers throughout the area during June and July 2017. The charity fundraiser means that by 'scoffing a scone', supporters will be helping to raise money to fund vital research for sick and disabled babies and children.
The fundraiser has gone from strength to strength since its launch in 2013. Last year 9,800 delicious cream teas were sent in boxes to homes, workplaces and schools throughout the UK, raising nearly £55,000.
Tracey Edwards, Action’s Community Fundraiser for the West, says, “It’s not easy to get the cream tea boxes ready for delivery, so we’re very grateful to our army of volunteers who pack our cream teas as well as to everyone who order and enjoys them!"
The charity is now on the look-out for volunteers to help lend a hand packing and delivering Action Cream Teas in the Wiltshire and Avon area. Do you want to be part of something amazing and have some fun in the process?
Tracey Edwards makes the appeal, "Are you the sort of person who can make things happen? Then please get in touch! You'll also need a good-sized kitchen or a large dining table/work area for packing, plus transport and a bunch of like-minded people who can help. It's a great way to make friends and to make a difference for a very worthwhile cause."
The Action Cream Teas comes in a box priced just £6 and contain two freshly baked scones, two small jars of strawberry jam, Rodda’s Cornish clotted cream, a traditional Yorkshire Tea T-bag, a knife and a serviette.
Action Medical Research is a UK-wide children’s charity which funds desperately needed research to tackle the diseases that devastate the lives of so many of our children. It has been funding medical breakthroughs since it began in 1952 including helping to introduce the first polio vaccines in the UK, developing the use of ultrasound in pregnancy and testing the rubella vaccine.
The charity is currently funding research into conditions including prematurity, epilepsy, meningitis, cerebral palsy, brain cancer and some rare and distressing conditions.
Contact Tracey Edwards if you would like to get involved with the packing of the Action Cream Teas on 01225 776691 or email tedwards@action.org.uk

The charity’s mascot, Paddington Bear™, likes his scones piled high with marmalade, Dr Dawn Harper, from Channel 4’s Embarrassing Bodies, likes hers with more ‘real strawberry’ than jam and BBC Correspondent Katie Adie likes a ‘classic’ (with jam either on top or underneath).
