Horsham-based children’s charity Action Medical Research is delighted to announce its partnership with the Gingerman Restaurants Group.
The Brighton and Hove company hopes to raise £20,000 to help save and change children’s lives by adding a £1 donation to desserts and children’s meals on the menu at its four restaurants: the Gingerman in Norfolk Square, the Ginger Fox near Pyecombe, the Ginger Pig on Hove Street and the Ginger Dog in College Place.
The money raised will go towards a study by Dr Owen Williams, of University College London’s Institute of Child Health, into a type of cancer called acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) which affects around 300 children each year in the UK1.
This cancer is most common in young children who are less than five years old. Most children with ALL are cured. However, treatment has side effects and some children still lose their lives.
With funding from Action Medical Research*, Dr Williams is searching for new treatments for children with a common type of ALL in the hope of reducing side effects and saving more children’s lives.

For more than 60 years Action Medical Research has helped pioneer treatments and ways to prevent disease that have benefited millions of people in the UK and across the world. Research they’ve funded has helped to beat polio in the UK, develop ultrasound in pregnancy, fight meningitis and prevent stillbirths.
Action Medical Research is currently funding research into meningitis, Down syndrome, epilepsy and premature birth, as well as some rare and distressing conditions that severely affect children.
