July 2023 sees the third edition of the annual charity bike ride ‘Raptör’ which sees professionals from the insurance industry coming together to help raise funds and awareness for children’s charity Action Medical Research.
Action Medical Research is very grateful to be supported by lead sponsors Brit and Ki as well as sponsorship from key leaders in the insurance industry including, Ascot, Howden, SCOR, Lockton and for the first time, Lloyd’s of London.
The cycling networking tour will see around 70 riders going from London to Amsterdam and finally Brussels as the route showcases some of the best of European riding with car free bike paths and quiet cycleways taking riders through the Benelux.
The 310 mile ride will take on a different challenge with the route starting in London – the home of Lloyd’s of London, covering Holland and for the first time, ending in Belgium – the home to Lloyd’s European operation. Lloyd’s of London will also be sponsoring a drinks reception at the finish line in Brussels where guests can celebrate the massive achievement of this momentous ride.
Chief Executive Officer of Ki Insurance and Executive Director of Brit Insurance, Mark Allan, says: “Our teams look forward to the Raptör ride every summer. It is a fantastic event for an amazing cause and it is inspiring to see so many colleagues, friends and partners from across the insurance market show their support. We are proud to support Action Medical Research who do such important work for children and families across the UK who are living with disease and illness.”
Corporate Events Fundraiser at Action Medical Research, Lucy Holloway, says: “We are so excited to be back for our annual insurance ride Raptör this summer, taking on Holland and Belgium for the first time. We could not do this without the support of our key sponsors Brit, Ki, Lloyd’s, SCOR and Lockton who have made this ride possible and enabled us to continue funding vital research to help sick and disabled babies, children and young people.”
Action Medical Research is a UK-wide children’s charity which funds desperately needed research to tackle the diseases that devastate the lives of so many of our children. The charity is striving to develop treatments and cures to tackle rare diseases that cause so much suffering for children and their families. Medical research gives hope – hope for new treatments, hope for a cure and hope that no family will have to go through the heartbreak of losing a child to a rare disease.
Action Medical Research is currently appealing for support as part of its Children’s Rare Disease Research Campaign, to help raise funds for research into rare diseases that affect children. Please visit www.action.org.uk/rare to learn more.
