As we look forward to Dine with Davina Essex next month, we’re celebrating all that Davina has done, and continues to do, to support our charity.

Remarkably, Davina’s involvement with the charity began in childhood. As a nine-year-old girl, she took on her first fundraising event for Action – a sponsored walk organised by her much-loved granny, Pippy, who led one of our local fundraising committees in Surrey.
This early connection grew into a lifelong dedication, now spanning 50 years and counting. When Davina became a household name in the late ‘90s and early 2000s, she generously increased her support, helping to boost the charity’s profile and fundraising. Hers is a rare, long-term commitment that speaks volumes about her loyalty to the cause and belief in the charity’s mission to fund vital medical research that saves and changes young lives.
Today, as one of the charity’s most recognisable and passionate Ambassadors, Davina plays a central role in raising awareness and inspiring support. Despite being one of the UK’s busiest television personalities, she consistently gives her time, energy and profile to champion Action’s work. Her dedication goes far beyond a traditional ambassadorial role; it is personal, hands-on and deeply embedded in the charity’s activities.

The most visible expression of Davina’s commitment has been her long-standing involvement in fundraising events. She has led and taken part in many – from the Davina’s Big Day out walk, to cycling challenges and hosting flagship events. Her efforts have not only raised significant funds but have also helped bring the charity’s work to new audiences, strengthening its reach and impact.
Her Dine with Davina events have become a cornerstone of Action Medical Research’s fundraising calendar. Now in their 20th year, these special events see Davina combine her warmth, humour and authenticity to create memorable and engaging experiences for supporters. She helps connect donors directly with the life-changing impact of the charity’s research, fostering a sense of shared purpose and community.

Davina’s contribution extends beyond fundraising. She was herself a premature baby – her mother having suffered from pre-eclampsia during pregnancy. Supporting Action also took on new personal meaning when she too became a mother. She has consistently used her public platform to help raise awareness of our cause, and her willingness to speak openly, share stories and engage with supporters has played an important role in bringing the charity’s work to life.
As we celebrate 50 years of Davina's involvement, we recognise not just the longevity of her support, but the extraordinary impact it has had. Her journey – from a young fundraiser to a leading Ambassador – has helped shape the charity's story, strengthen its community and, most importantly, improve the lives of countless children and families.
Thank you so much Davina!
