How you can donate to us with cryptocurrency

If you would like to donate to us using cryptocurrency, you can do so via the fundraising platform Just Giving, which has partnered with The Giving Block. When donating on Just Giving’s Checkout, you will be given the option to select ‘Crypto’ then you can choose your amount and coin of choice, follow the on-screen instructions to pay from your crypto wallet of choice. What is cryptocurrency?

Cryptocurrency is a digital currency, as opposed to traditional or “fiat” currency like Pounds. One of the most popular examples is Bitcoin. Instead of using a physical currency, it exists only online and is secured by a record-keeping system called “blockchain technology.” The blockchain is a secure ledger that records every transaction across multiple computers to ensure data integrity.

How it works 

When you donate using cryptocurrency via Just Giving, their partner, the Giving Block, instantly convert the donation into cash (‘fiat’) and Just Giving then send it to us along with our other non-crypto donations. We don’t hold onto the crypto donation, so there is no risk of it losing value due to market fluctuations.

Can I claim gift aid for my crypto donation?

Currently, crypto donations are not eligible for UK Gift Aid.

Can I donate anonymously?

No, Just Giving doesn’t allow anonymous crypto donations, so they can make sure all transactions are safe and legitimate.

What fees apply to my cryptocurrency donation?

JustGiving’s Giving Checkout doesn’t apply any processing fees to your donation. Your online crypto wallet may charge you a fee.

Which cryptocurrencies do you accept?

Environmental impact of cryptocurrencies

We understand that cryptocurrency can raise environmental concerns. That’s why we’ve chosen to work with JustGiving and The Giving Block, as they offset the carbon emissions of all crypto donations made through their system. This helps reduce the environmental impact associated with crypto giving.

Can I donate cryptocurrency directly to you?

No, we currently only accept crypto donations via JustGiving and The Giving Block.

How much can I donate in crypto?

JustGiving and The Giving block accept donations between £2 and £100,000. Please note your digital crypto wallet may have a different minimum and maximum spend.
