Action Medical Research warmly welcomes all new volunteers. We depend on dedicated volunteers to achieve our charitable goals and we’re committed to providing volunteers with the best possible experience. We value volunteers who give their time to help us in our work. Our volunteers all experience a different journey depending on what roles they are doing or what reasons they are involved with us, however, we try to ensure that every volunteer with us has a positive and rewarding experience.
As a volunteer with Action Medical Research you can expect:
- To be involved with a charity that is saving and changing children’s lives through medical research.
- A supportive and reciprocal environment that ensures a positive experience for you as a volunteer.
- A dedicated Manager who will provide support and offer encouragement to you.
- To be updated on the latest fundraising by the charity
- To be updated on the latest medical research funded.
- To be reimbursed (within guidelines) for any reasonable out-of-pocket expenses incurred.
- Problems or complaints will be investigated quickly and resolved fairly.
- A commitment to providing a safe and healthy environment for you and all volunteers at all opportunities possible. Where required, adequate insurance cover for fundraising events will be provided (We must be made aware of all event details so please make sure you give your Manager all the information).
- That Action will not share your information or pass it on to third parties.
What we expect from our volunteers:
- To have fun in supporting the work of the Action Medical Research.
- To support our aims and objectives.
- To maintain and uphold the reputation and good name of the charity.
- To listen to, and work cooperatively with paid members of staff and other volunteers – treating all with courtesy and respect.
- To take reasonable care of health & safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions.
- To support the charity’s Equality & Diversity policy – helping to promote this to all our supporters.
- To abide by best practice guides issued by Action.
- Where applicable, to make sure any funds raised are sent to the charity in a timely manner (within 28 days), with receipts given by you as appropriate.
- Where applicable to keep your Manager appraised of your fundraising plans and ideas at an early stage.
- To provide us with feedback on how we can improve your volunteering experience with the charity.
- To inform us if your commitment to us, for any reason, can no longer continue.
- To ensure appropriate levels of confidentiality and data protection are upheld throughout your time volunteering with us. All data should be securely stored and disposed of appropriately in accordance with the Charity’s Data Retention Policy.
- To provide us with contact details so we can provide updates to you.
