At Action Medical Research, we believe in breaking barriers - both in medical research and in sport.
So understandably, we are incredibly proud that our Race the Sun series of multi-discipline team challenges, and RIDE Series of one-day sportive bikes rides have been officially endorsed by SheRACES, a Community Interest Company which exists to level the start line and enable more women to take part in races and events, and have a good experience when they do so.
Together, we’re making our events as accessible and inclusive as possible - because every athlete should feel equally valued and encouraged to take part. Every woman deserves a place on the start line.
Below are the measures we've put in place and are committed to uphold to make that vision a reality.

Action Medical Research are committed to:
Show a diversity of athletes in marketing imagery and communications.
Provide all participants with detailed event guides which outline the event logsitics and kit lists as well as route maps and descriptions. We also host online pre-event virtual briefings as well as supplying training, kit and route videos to ensure that all participants are well-informed and prepared for what to expect.
Cut off times and a justification for them are clearly laid out in the event guide. These cut offs are for the safety of the participants and event staff but are achievable for all.
Offer awards and award categories that are equal to those of men, and that womens categories are given equal prominence in celebrations, social media and other communications.
Constantly review the toilet and changing facilities to ensure that they are sufficient and well communicated, as well as having period products available at start and finish lines, and where possible throughout the course.
Ensure that our registration desk and event hub are staffed predominantly by female members of staff.
Offer women who fall pregnant before the event the ability to transfer their place to a future event within 2 years.
Communicate and enforce a zero-tolerance approach to harassment of any kind (which includes participants, volunteers and staff). See our code of conduct for more information.
Actively seek feedback from participants through Racecheck reviews and anonymous post-event surveys and make best efforts to make changes where necessary based on feedback.
- Review our compliance with SheRACES guidelines on an annual basis.
