Event Participation Code of Conduct

We’re so excited to have you join an Action Medical Research event! To make sure everyone has a great time, we’ve put together a few simple guidelines to keep things safe, respectful, and fun for all.

Who This Applies To

This code of conduct applies to everyone taking part in our events—whether in person or online.

Our Commitment

We want our events to be welcoming and enjoyable for everyone, no matter their gender, background, abilities, or beliefs. We do not tolerate discrimination, harassment, or any kind of inappropriate behaviour.

What We Expect From You

Here’s how you can help keep our events friendly and positive:

  • Be kind and respectful – Treat others with courtesy, including fellow participants, staff, members of the public and volunteers.
  • Keep it appropriate – We will not tolerate any offensive comments, jokes, or behaviour related to gender, race, appearance, religion, or any other personal characteristics. Any form of sexual harassment, intimidation, or unwelcome physical contact will not be tolerated at Action Events and appropriate action may be taken against individuals displaying such behaviours.
  • Please follow event guidelines – Make sure you register in advance, arrive on time, and follow any event-specific rules as explained in any pre event communications (the event guide for example).
  • Stay safe – Be mindful of your own safety and that of others. If you see something unsafe, let us know.
  • Look after your belongings – We can’t take responsibility for lost or stolen items.
  • Drink responsibly – If alcohol is permitted at an event, enjoy it in moderation.
  • No illegal substances – Drugs and illegal substances are not allowed at any event.
  • Respect event spaces – Don’t tamper with equipment, enter restricted areas, or disrupt the event.
  • Kids need supervision – If you’re bringing children, please keep an eye on them.
  • Dogs – Well behaved dogs are welcome at outdoor Action Events, although they should be kept on a lead at all times and are the entire responsibility of the owner.

What Happens If Someone Breaks the Rules?

If someone isn’t following these guidelines, we may ask them to stop immediately. If the behaviour continues, they may be asked to leave (without a refund if it’s a paid event). If necessary, we might also report serious incidents to the authorities.

If you experience or witness anything that concerns you, please talk to the Event Coordinator or email us at events@action.org.uk in confidence.

Thanks for helping us create a great experience for everyone by making our events fun, safe, and inclusive for all.
