Join this sell-out marathon!

Run for Team Action in this incredible marathon and have a unique sightseeing tour of Edinburgh, taking in the sights of this glorious city.

Thinking of taking on your first ever marathon or hoping for a personal best? Then you’ll be happy to know this course was voted the fastest marathon in the UK by Runners World. The Edinburgh Marathon has sold out every year since 2008, so it’s an incredibly popular race with a brilliant atmosphere to help you get around.

You’ll start on the grounds of Potterrow which is one of the oldest Universities in the world. Setting off with this incredible city centre start, you’ll spend time going through the very heart of Edinburgh.

The race is a great way to see the city as you pass landmarks such as Greyfriars Bobby, the National Museum of Scotland, the Scottish National Gallery, Princes Street Gardens (with the iconic Edinburgh Castle in the background). Next, you’ll be striding down the historic Royal Mile towards Scottish Parliament and if you keep your eyes up, you’ll be able to see the beautiful scenery of Holyrood Park including Salisbury Crags the extinct volcano Arthur’s Seat.

Approaching Musselburgh, you’ll run past the oldest golf course in the world and then head further East on a flat road to Gosford House which is a famous architectural landmark by Scot architect, Robert Adam.

Nearing the end, when the miles have stacked up and thoughts of the finish line are more frequent, you’ll be running along the coast ready to descend almost 90 meters which gives you a great opportunity for a sprint finish if you’ve got any reserves left in the tank!

run for a reason

Run for children like Aiden

Aiden suffered from a shortage of oxygen at birth and was whisked away to the intensive care unit where the team began to reduce his body temperature to protect him from brain damage. Now a happy little boy who loves to play and be around people, he has cerebral palsy but therapy is helping him get stronger. Cooling therapy is the product of a 20-year programme of research to which Action Medical Research contributed.
