After 33 years in the travel industry leading leisure travel companies making money for private shareholders, Charitable Travel’s founder knew there was another more philanthropic way to sell travel, and in 2019 created a travel company that would be a force for good. Charitable Travel was formed as a registered social enterprise Community Interest Company, with a clear purpose to help charity fundraising at no extra cost.
Every penny of profit earned by Charitable Travel, everything they do and everything they offer their customers, supports charity fundraising and good causes. They are a registered social enterprise and a financially protected travel agency. Their purpose and mission is to help their customers with their holiday plans and at the same time support the great work that UK-based charities deliver around the world. When customers book a holiday or cruise with Charitable Travel, they sacrifice travel agency commission so that they can make a free five percent donation to their choice of registered charity.
Charitable Travel is a member of the largest independent travel agent group in the UK called The Travel Network Group. They are a Worldchoice Plus member which ensures an incredible choice of
holidays, cruises and travel options are available to customers from 170 ATOL protected tour operators. Their expert reservations team are on hand to help customers with great advice and competitive prices. When customers book their money is held in a Trust Account for complete financial protection.
How we help?
When a customer buys a holiday, they are invited to donate an amount equal to 5% of the price of their holiday to any registered charity listed on JustGiving, through Charitable Travel’s bespoke portal. The customer donates online, through the JustGiving portal, directly to the charity, which becomes income for the charity. When the donation is made Charitable Travel reduce the holiday price by the same agreed amount, so the holiday is cheaper offsetting the donation. Charitable Travel sacrifice travel agent commission to enable the free donation, enabling their social purpose of generating income for charities.
