IMPORTANT UPDATE
Following a route risk assessment of our RIDE Wessex Downs Dirty gravel routes, it is with regret that we have decided to remove the gravel route options.
With the amount of rainfall we have experienced over the past weeks, sadly, in its present condition, the majority of the route is not suitable. The ridgeway section is in a particularly bad state with large sections impassable plus, the long-range forecast predicts that more rain is to come.
Rider safety is of the utmost importance and unfortunately we are unable to offer a safe off-road route in the current conditions. All registered participants have been sent an email to the address used when they registered outlining their options. If you haven't received it, please check your junk/spam folders, or contact us by email.
The road routes on RIDE Wessex Downs, taking place at the same time will go ahead as planned. Please visit the webpage for more details and to register.
Of course, we are very disappointed that the gravel routes will not be taking place and we thank you for your understanding.

The North Wessex Downs is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and with the peace and serenity on offer, you could be mistaken for thinking that you're miles from anywhere, and not just a stone's throw from the capital!
Taking in the historic ridgeway, riders are treated to over 20 miles of continuous off-road riding along one of Britain’s oldest trackways. The route also uses numerous byways and bridleways providing a mix of surfaces from gravel lanes, grassy fields and wooded forest tracks, with roughly a 60/40 split between off-road and road sections. Riding along the ridgeway also gives a fantastic vantage point for views across the Oxfordshire and Berkshire countryside.
